Hemlock Lane
Hemlock Lane runs about 1,300 feet northeast from Nashua Road (Route 4) to the upper end of Fieldstone Lane, and with Fieldstone Lane forms the street loop of the Sumner Farms subdivision. Its land was an unused part of the property of Lantheus Medical Imaging, rezoned for houses by the town meetings of 2009 and 2014 and sold to Bedford Woods LLC.
The street was laid out on "Sumner Farms, Definitive Subdivision Plan, Fieldstone/Hemlock Lane," drawn by Dresser, Williams & Way, Inc., of 572 Boston Road (Francis J. McDonald, land surveyor), dated December 3, 2014 and revised to June 9, 2016, for Bedford Woods Development, LLC, of 204 Andover Road. The plan was endorsed by the Planning Board on September 1, 2016 and recorded the next day (Plan Book 242, Plan 26). It shows Hemlock Lane as a 50-foot way leaving Nashua Road, the "1925 County Layout," with house lots of about an acre on both sides. Hemlock Lane was built before the upper part of Fieldstone Lane: the developer laid 960 feet of eight-inch water main in it "from Nashua Rd. to Fieldstone Ln.," reported by the town in 2017, the registry's first deeds of houses on the lane date from June 28, 2017, and the assessors date its first houses to 2017.
No acceptance of Hemlock Lane as a public way was found in the town reports through 2025. The origin of the name was not found.
